Our Vision
Water for Warrill is investigating the viability of a range of infrastructure and non-infrastructure solutions to deliver reliable, high priority water to the Warrill and Fassifern Valleys.
Proposed solutions being considered and assessed for their viability include:
Flood mitigation dam on the Warrill Creek
ACCESS NEW WATER FROM RECYCLING PLANTS
Flood Harvesting
Incentivise utilisations of existing water allocations
Improve water trading information and mechanisms
The project will improve connectivity by identifying sources that have excess water and forming a plan to transfer the water to where there is a shortfall, in the Warrill and Fassifern Valleys.
Water will be used to generate new revenue and job opportunities for a regional community.
Stage 1
Stage 1 of Water for Warrill focused on identifying and implementing practical operational improvements within the existing legislative and planning framework.
These initiatives did not require amendments to the Moreton Water Plan or associated regulatory instruments and were deliberately targeted toward achievable “quick wins” capable of improving operational flexibility and water utilisation in the short term.
This report from Badu Advisory revealed there is significant interest and support from irrigators in the valleys for reliable water supply.

Stage 2
Stage 2 represents the first integrated assessment of whether targeted changes to water planning settings, water-sharing arrangements and supporting infrastructure concepts can materially improve water reliability, flexibility, productivity and drought resilience within the Warrill Valley Water Supply Scheme (WVWSS).
The Stage 2 work was undertaken by Badu Advisory, supported by Water for Warrill appointed engineering consultants, Engeny Egis Group, and economic advisers, Clear Ridge Consulting.
The work is the first phase of integrating hydrologic modelling, operational assessment, planning analysis, prefeasibility engineering investigations and economic case studies.
Stage 3
In Stage 3 a detailed request for funding will be submitted to the State Government in July 2026 to conduct a business case analysis which consolidates water planning, concept engineering and case study economics.
Stage 3 is intended to seek agreement with the Government to fund a structured business case proposal focused on:
- targeted infrastructure investigations
- strategic and environmental assessment
- economic and regional benefit analysis
- integrated options assessment
- Business Case pathway leadingto market ready solutions
Stage 4
Based on the outcomes of Stage 3, a comprehensive business case and market readiness report will be developed.
