Water For Warrill is preparing to submit a funding proposal to the National Water Grid Authority to enable the project to move to the next detailed investigation stage.

Water for Warrill Chair, Richard Gorman, says the committee has engaged Kellogg Brown Root (KBR) to prepare a funding proposal to the National Water Grid Authority, which is charged by the Federal Government with providing region-specific water storage and distribution systems to unlock agricultural opportunities in the regions and increase water solutions in existing agricultural areas.

“Since the initial demand assessment in early 2021 much has happened,” says Mr Gorman.

“Water for Warrill Pty Ltd was established and an inaugural committee formed. We engaged local accounting firm GJ Walsh & Co to provide professional and support services to the committee, including finalising the funding submission to the water grid authority.

“The funding submission would enable us to progress the next stages of the project, including a strategic options assessment, detailed business case and construction readiness phase.

“We have spoken with Queensland Water Minister, Hon. Glenn Butcher, as part of that process to share our vision and seek state support for the NWGA submission. We also continue to work closely with the Scenic Rim Regional Council, which funded the initial demand assessment.”
